From farm to heart

We've always believed that food is centered around friends and family. We began with Sunday dinners at home in Sacramento, the front door open for any and all to come and enjoy. We've been serving these farmers' market dinners to our Sacramento neighbors for 18 years. Now The Thirsty Fork is practicing this tradition of offering local and seasonal foods, regional wines, and craft beers for catered events in our community.  The Sacramento region offers us an abundance of the highest quality farm-fresh foods.  The Thirsty Fork offers all of this to you for any occasion, including catered events, classes,  and old world baking.

Artisan breads

At The Thirsty Fork, we bake  with wild yeasts, fresh grains, and simple ingredients. Our artisan breads are made by hand in small batches. Our Sourdough Rounds are our specialty.

Regional Vintners and Craft Beers

As the Executive Chef for Story Winery in Plymouth, Christopher Davis-Murai works with the owner and winemaker to pair our foods with the finest wines and match them with the produce of the seasons.

The Thirsty Fork provides 98% sustainable foods! Our catering emphasizes local and seasonal produce, spent brewers' grains, farm raised game,  and regional wild and farmed fish.  The Thirsty Fork  strives for the highest quality authentic, original, and elegant, real food.

Farm to Fork

Sacramento is now well known as America's Farm to Fork capital. Here at The Thirsty Fork, we take pride in the agricultural bounty of the Sacramento Valley and Delta, and the abundance of fresh ingredients available to us year-round.  At times it seems we could just reach out our window and bring in handfuls beautiful produce that the wonderful Sacramento Valley climate nourishes. 

But beyond taking pride in our surroundings and all they provide,  we at The Thirsty Fork champion the Farm to Fork ethos in the choices we make in menu offerings, selection of ingredients, and cooking styles.  The Thirsty Fork supports local Sacramento area farmers (and cheese makers, ranchers, and bee keepers) in every engagement we accept. We also engage with all of the local Farmers' Market and other local produce markets to help build a healthy community with fresh foods available to everyone.  Look for our Farm to Heart pop-up dinners on our events page for Chef Christopher Davis-Murai's sustainable lunch and dinner menus.

EXECUTIVE CHEF

 

Christopher's passion for bicycling and cooking learned him the nickname "The Bicycle Chef." For the better part of 20 years he has had the opportunity to please thousands of palettes through his catering business. In addition, Christopher has taught cooking in San Francisco for the Home Chef Company, had a cooking show on the NBC affiliate KSEE 24 in Fresno, and was the personal chef for the Henry Cabot-Lodge family.

What sets Christopher apart in the Sacramento culinary scene is his buoyant personality and simplicity as a chef. Simple seasonal approaches, a knack to educate as well as entertain, and teaching people his craft, always with a smile and a laugh, makes it easy to create happy and repeat customers.

Christopher's distinguishing qualities as a chef are his experiences in marrying classic dishes with regional foods and traditions, and his skill at representing the flavors from the many different cultures in our Sacramento community.

Christopher specializes in classic European style cooking that ranges from classical French, to old world Italian, to Bohemian, and the British Isles. In addition, he has found success in the art of Asian fusion cuisine and applies it to the menus in The Thirsty Fork caterings. and Personal Chef work.

With Christopher's depth of experience and unique culinary style, The Thirsty Fork will offer everyone a truly memorable and original dining experience.

Sourdough Rounds

The Thirsty Fork started a wild yeast culture that makes Sacramento's only fresh-daily sourdough round.   With an airy crumb and sturdy crust, The Thirsty Fork's artisan sourdough is a terrific accompaniment to our handmade condiments such as chutneys, mustards, and tapenade.  This authentic sourdough bread also stands up to any sandwich filling - and it is delicious all by itself.

Yeast Rolls

The Thirsty Fork's Louisiana Yeast Rolls are made by hand in our Sacramento kitchen.  They are also featured at Oak Park Brewing Company!
